My Story

Hello Beautiful Mama!

I’m so glad you stopped by.

A Little Back Story

I had a lot of dreams for when I first got married. I wanted me and my husband to share a long and happy life and grow old together. I wanted several kids to raise and watch grow up and I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. When I got pregnant with my first and only child, my (now ex) husband and I talked about my desire to be a stay-at-home mom for our daughter. It was important for me to watch my baby grow up.

Unfortunately, our finances were not going to allow me to be a full-time stay-at-home mom. I hadn’t been at my job long enough to qualify for maternity leave. We were going to lose two incomes and with my husband also in school, our finances were already stretched thin.

As we were going over our finances and making a plan, we realized I would only be able to stay home with my daughter for 4 months after she was born. Enough time for me to heal from her birth and our finances wouldn’t be in complete dire straits, after which I would need to find a part-time job. It would bring in extra money, but I could still have days when I took care of her.

Now 4 months is honestly more time than a lot of women get after giving birth. I’ve heard of women having to go back to work one week after giving birth. (Which is crazy.) So although I was grateful for the time I would get to be with her, it hurt my heart that I would have to leave her so young while someone else raised her. And I would miss important milestones.

Time for a New Plan

So, late in my 1st trimester, I realized I needed a plan b, in case I wasn’t able to find a job quickly. And I was able to stay home longer than expected. Which would heal my heart, but we would suffer financially.

I grew up frugally and have learned a lot of money-saving tips from growing up and from living on my own. I started implementing any tips that we hadn’t already been doing.

Before I even got married, I had read about ways to make money online and researched extensively. I decided to use Bluehost for my first website. Which was great and worked well and I still recommend it. But after a while, I realized I needed to find a more all-inclusive platform that could give me more training, community as well as more hosting capabilities.

That is when I stumbled onto a fabulous online community centered around affiliate marketing. I researched it before finally paying for a membership. (I really like research, which is great, but sometimes it causes problems because you start to get in your own way and in your own head, and taking action becomes a problem.) I went through their thorough training which includes setting up a website. (Which is something I had already done, but a refresher course never hurts. Plus it is great for a complete newbie.) I really liked this community, was starting to see success, but life got in the way and I had to quit.

So, here I was newly pregnant and needed a plan b. I went back to what I had learned about making money online and put my nose to the grindstone, and got to work.

I gave birth to her and those 4 months flew in a flash. Now was the time for me to find a part-time job. So I searched and applied and got interviews over and over again. But I was never offered a job.

I have never been quite able to figure it out. I was qualified for the jobs that I applied for.

But I think it is because I had a set schedule, which apparently is a no-no for a part-time job. Flexibility is key, which to me does not make sense in regards to a part-time job. But I digress.

Thankfully, during this time I kept working on my website, even if it was hardly any time. And lo and behold, I started seeing money.

I wasn’t rich but it was enough to keep my family afloat. Plus, I knew that if I kept working on this business that I could make more and more. The sky’s the limit.

Embarking in New Territory

When my daughter was only 9 months old, I ended up having to flee my abusive husband. I and my daughter ended up seeking refuge at a women’s/homeless shelter. We stayed there for a while trying to figure out what was going to happen next.

I took out a protective order against my (then) husband, so he couldn’t hurt me anymore and started working on divorce proceedings.

Thankfully, I had family around that was willing and able to support me and my daughter when it was time to leave the shelter.

So, now I am trying to navigate being divorced and a single mom.

Money has been so tight, that I am grateful for all of the money-saving tips I have accumulated over the years. Some border on the extreme, but they have helped me to survive as a single mom.

I’m still able to make money online, but it is not enough, right now, for me to be a full-time stay-at-home mom. So, I am working my tail off to accomplish this. Because I want my daughter to have me all the time.

The Next Chapter

I have debated whether or not to actually write this section.

On the one hand, I think it could be useful for you to know my dreams. So, when I achieve all of them, you will be there with me for the ride. And to show you that if you follow your dreams meaning you work your butt off to achieve them, you can obtain them.

On the other hand, they are ambitious. And I am a single mom. People close to me don’t even believe I can achieve them. At all. Plus, as I mentioned, they haven’t been achieved yet, so maybe it would be more of a detriment to be writing them here.

But I have decided to take a leap of faith and have written here.

What I Want to Achieve for Me and My Daughter:

  • Become a full-time stay-at-home mom
  • Make a full-time income from my blog
  • Pay off my student loans (they are around $13,000)
  • Buy a house

I Want to Help You, Dear Mama

It is getting harder and harder to be a stay-at-home mom because of finances. Depending on where you live in the world, living off of one income is becoming almost impossible.

But that should not stop you if you want to be a stay-at-home mom and watch your precious babies grow up.

It is possible to make money from home even with your toddler bouncing off the walls and your baby refusing to take a nap.

I believe that every mom should have the choice to stay at home with her kids, even a single mom. Money shouldn’t have to be the deciding factor.

Why I Started This Website

This website is my happy place. A place where I can be 100% me in all of my quirky glory. A place where I have a voice. A place where I can be creative.

I don’t have all the answers and I don’t have everything figured out. But I am trying, progressing, and learning day by day. I want to share the knowledge I have learned and am continuing to learn. I want you to learn from my mistakes, failures, and successes.

I want this site to be your happy place too. A safe haven where you can feel encouraged, inspired and given hope. A place where you can get the advice and answers that you need.

Where you will feel like your voice matters too. Because it does. Most importantly, you won’t feel alone. Because you are not.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to reach out to me and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,
